Smarty supports different monitoring methods depending on the type of equipment that needs to be checked. Some protocols are operational by nature and depend on what the target device itself offers.
HTTP / REST
Used for URL monitoring, service checks, API polling and firmware delivery. HTTPS is preferred for encrypted traffic, and Smarty can validate methods, headers, status codes and response text.
TCP and Telnet
Used for legacy or device-specific command interfaces such as amplifiers, controllers and streamers. These protocols are practical, but are typically not encrypted by the target device itself.
Ping
Used to test host reachability and basic availability without relying on a full application-layer response.
SMTP
Supports secure mail delivery using SSL/TLS or STARTTLS for alert notifications from the device and platform.
802.1X WiFi
Supports WPA2-Enterprise authentication for managed networks, with optional PEM CA certificate validation for the authentication server.
Remote support helpers
TeamViewer and RDP information can be managed from the platform to speed up support workflows for monitored PCs and workstations.
OTA updates
Firmware updates can be distributed from the server to the device, with reboot and post-update version verification.
